Fire Station 18 Coming in 2027
A new fire station is planned for The Aurora Highlands, bringing emergency response resources closer to residents and businesses in Aurora’s growing eastern corridor. Anticipated to open in 2027, Aurora Fire Rescue Station 18 will transform the existing Aurora Highlands Visitor Center at 3930 E-470 into a modern, 9,600-square-foot firehouse.
The station will be the first completed element of The District at The Aurora Highlands, a future mixed-use destination within the community. Designed to support a full fire company, the facility will feature three drive-through apparatus bays, a state-of-the-art fitness room and dedicated firefighter and officer dormitories.
Additionally, a high-visibility glass garage enclosure will showcase AFR’s vintage 1955 Seagrave fire engine, owned by the Aurora Firefighters Local 1290 and affectionately known as “Big John.” Originally assigned to AFR Station 1, Big John later served as the primary engine for Stations 4 and 5 when those firehouses opened.
Station 18 reflects The Aurora Highlands’ commitment to investing in the infrastructure, services and resources that help a growing community thrive. We’re proud to partner with the City of Aurora and Aurora Fire Rescue to bring this important public safety resource to the community.
