Mirror, Mirror, In The Park
Art has a unique way of reflecting reality, shedding light on what truly matters. As Shakespeare wrote, “Art is a mirror held up to nature,” and The Aurora Highlands’ newest installation embodies this idea beautifully. BROKEN BUT TOGETHER, a striking 25-foot tall mirrored polished stainless steel sculpture by Belgian contemporary artist Michael Benisty, serves as a powerful reminder that connection is what keeps us whole. Though the figures in the sculpture appear fractured, they stand united, showing that even in our brokenness, we can find strength and resilience through our bonds with others. The piece originally debuted at Burning Man, leading Carla Ferreira, principal and director of onsite development at The Aurora Highlands, to confidently assert that if it could withstand the wild conditions of the festival, it would thrive in Colorado’s varied climate. The stunning work joins the award-winning public art park in the master-planned community. Hogan Park is also home to captivating pieces like Umi, a 21-foot-tall sculpture depicting the convergence of woman and tree, and The Only Way Out is Through, a dynamic collaboration featuring Olivia Steele’s signature neon sign art paired with Berlin-based artist known as SNYDER’s impactful street art.
